I just converted my Lenovo P70 from Ubuntu 18.04 to Centos 7 and found that when I'd start audacity from the command line it would immediately quit with no GUI or console output.
Removing the directory ~/.audacity-data solved the problem. There may have been some permission problem introduced during the migration. Maybe some additional program output would be helpful. I'm posting this here because nothing like this came up in any Google searches on this condition.

Re: Audacity (2.1.1) quits immediately: Solution
My guess would be that there was a setting in ~/.audacity-data/audacity.cfg that was valid for Ubuntu, but invalid for Centos, preventing Audacity from running. Unfortunately, if an application crashes before it is up, there is no opportunity for it to log the error.
