All of a sudden not able to import audio

All of a sudden not able to import audio
I was able to import and edit audio for my podcast and now all of a sudden I can't. It won't let me import and someone suggested dropping the file into audacity which only leads to static sounds. Any help would be great.

Why not? What happens when you try?
Which version of Audacity are you using? (Look in "Help menu > About Audacity")
