Steinberg UR12 - Audacity 2.2.2 - Linux Mint

Post by horsebadorties » Sun Sep 02, 2018 7:18 am

Try as I might, I can't get the UR12 to work with Audacity. I'm sure it's something in the audio settings. I've tried every permutation without success. Has anyone got further insights?

It works fine on Windows7 so I imagine the problem is to do with a (non-existent) driver.
Is there something I can put into the terminal to force it to work?

As an initial test to see if your computer recognizes the UR12:
1) Open a terminal window
2) Enter the command:

Code: Select all

alsamixer
3) Press the F6 key to bring up the sound card selection option.
What options are available?

(Press "Esc" twice to close the card selection dialog and Alsa Mixer.)

Launch Audacity, or if it is already open, exit the program and re-launch it.
Then, "Help menu > Diagnostics > Audio Device Info".
When the info window appears, click the "Save" button and save the info somewhere convenient (such as your Desktop).
Then attach the saved file to your reply. See here for how to attach a file to a forum post: viewtopic.php?f=49&t=64936

That's weird. It seems that Audacity can't see any audio devices on your system.
Try rebooting the computer and get the "Help menu > Diagnostics > Audio Device Info" again.
If you have Skype for Linux, ensure that it is not set to startup on log-in.

Still the same, not physical audio devices listed.

Open your sound settings, and look in the "Input" and "Output" tabs. Which, if any, devices are listed for each?
