Post recording dead mic noise

This forum is for Audacity on macOS 10.4 and later.
Please state which version of macOS you are using,
and the exact three-section version number of Audacity from "Audacity menu > About Audacity".
Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x are obsolete and no longer supported. If you still have those versions, please upgrade at https://www.audacityteam.org/download/.
The old forums for those versions are now closed, but you can still read the archives of the 1.2.x and 1.3.x forums.

Seems odd that when I search for Noisegate it only surfaces the one I put in the regular Audacity plugins folder but there is also a version in the /Users/dperkins/Library/Application Support/audacity/Plug-Ins/ folder as shown in the screenshot.

That file is trash (corrupt).
Do you know how to extract a ZIP file?

Interesting, I downloaded it from the wiki page linked to the Audacity page. I do know how to unzip a file.

Here's the noise gate plug-in in a ZIP file. Hopefully being in a ZIP file will prevent macOS from mangling it.
Before you extract "Noisegate.ny" from this ZIP, I'd highly recommend that you delete all other copies of Noisegate.ny from your machine so at to avoid confusion.

Thanks, that seems to have done the trick...I'm seeing the Noise Gate effect in Audacity now. I appreciate the help and will try to use it on my next podcast episode!

Thanks again for everyone's help...editing a podcast this morning and the noise gate has definitely saved me some time!
