hi.
i have a problem with the project rate setting. i seem to be recording at 44 khz, but then when i go back to listen to the track after opening it again, the project rate seems to go back to 16ooo khz. any ideas why???

Preference changes don't "stick" until you restart Audacity.

that suggestion kind of helped.
here is more specific info i guess..
when i record it shows 44100 hz.
then i save as a wav file it still brings it up as 44100 hz.
however, when i save that file as an mp3 format it converts it to 16000 hz during the playback of that mp3 file.
i'm trying to keep it 44100..
any suggestions??

The LAME encoder forces the sample rate down lower if you use some of the smaller bit rates. I know for sure that the 64kbps rate will drop the sample rate down. Not sure about 96kbps.
