And pray tell me - do these same people also write to Bill Gates and ask him to remove the same nag from Word/Excel/Powerpoint/Projet etc ?

I didn't mean to imply that these were my personal choices, just what others asked me to do. As far as Peter's bear-traps, years ago - as a novice user - I got stuck in many of these traps and had to resort to this forum or the source code to get out! I STRONGLY support the amelioration of most, if not all, of these poor GUI design choices. As for fixing bugs I spent a few years chipping away at the P3s and P4s but the process of getting a solution reviewed by a Senior Developer was ultimately daunting.

Hi Ed,
I too got caught in many of those (and sometimes still inadvertently do) - hence my interest
And it's the work on here trying to extricate unwary folk from the bear-traps that makes this my #1 - but more on behalf of all those unfortunates in the bear-traps
Similarly my desire to see P2s and P3s eradicated is for the benefit of others (most of) those bugs do not affect me and my workflows.
And as for LAME I have that solidly installed - it would just make it so much easier for future new users for it to come bundled.
Peter

I strongly advise popping up a caution if the user failed to save anything. That's not what happens in this case. I did save my work and Audacity's goals are different from mine.
Is this where we start discussing the AUP sound file format?
