Were themes removed from 1.3.9? I really like that feature - hopefully I'm just missing something, or they'll be added back in soon.

I can't find it in 1.3.9 either and I've not seen anything to say that it has been removed, so I've e-mailed one of the developers for clarification about this.

We decided this would not be in the next Stable 2.0 Release, so it will not be in the final Betas before 2.0 which we are now going through. The feature is too incomplete, and we lack resources to develop it further before 2.0. Also loading png's edited in some applications can crash Audacity. I imagine Themes will be back in the first Beta after 2.0.

Anyone who is able to compile Audacity from source code (either the current Beta tarball or CVS) can turn theming on simply by uncommenting this line in Experimental.h:

//#define EXPERIMENTAL_THEME_PREFS

so it looks like:
#define EXPERIMENTAL_THEME_PREFS

Although there's no menu option, themes still work for me in Audacity 1.3.9 (from the openSuse repositories) by manually editing the config files: http://jcsu.jesus.cam.ac.uk/~hdc21/design/audacity/

Hello Mate,
I would like to try these themes, but I can't find anything in preferences about Themes.
Which version of Audacity are you using? Could you post a screen shot of where the "themes settings" are?
We must change in order to survive.

Theme options in Preferences is only available in old beta versions from 1.3.3 to 1.3.8 inclusive.
These old versions are not recommended.

Hellstudio theme also for Mac OSX

Post by michel;n » Sun Jan 30, 2011 11:55 pm

I like the simplicity of Hellstudio themes, so I updated it to work on OSX.
Tested with 1.3.12 version

INSTALLATION for OSX version

1) Download new "imageCache.png" attached file
2) Copy "ImageCache.png" to "/Users/<your_user_name>/Library/Application Support/audacity/Theme"
(make folder Theme first, if it wasn’t there before)
3) Open file "audacity.cfg" in folder "/Users/<your_user_name>/Library/Application Support/audacity/"
with TextEdit or any other text editor and add new section:

Code: Select all

[Theme]
LoadAtStart=1
You can also change the icon of application:
1) Click with right button on application, choose "Show Package Content"
2) Go to "Contents/Resources"
3) Rename "Audacity.icns" to whatever like "Audacity original.icns"
4) Place new "Audacity.icns" in that folder

Hello guy,

On the French forum, I propose a new design for the software Audacity.
I have not finished yet, I have to do a few more shadows under selects.

This design is inspired of Adobe CS. I'm trying to do image.cache.png

I give you news very quickly

Very nice.
Would someone describe the color palette?
I would like to change the wave window - white wave on the blue background.
