(I know I am not supposed to do this but I changed the dark blue colour of the logo for a lighter blue just to experiment).

This should be adopted as the new official logo of Audacity.

Audacity seriously needs to update its look and join the century.

How well does this one scale down to favicon size?
Perhaps experimenting with simplified "flames" so that it looks less blurry (and not like teeth) as a favicon.

Hi steve and Audacity colleagues, how is everyone doing today?

You got that right! The yellow part of the logo, I don't know exactly why, but was not able to open correctly outside of Inkscape. It seems that the yellow flame of the original audacity logo was made on Inkscape using the blur option. Oddly enough when I open the Audacityu original official logo in, let's say, Affinity Designer, which is SVG compliant and compatible, the yellow part of the logo is totally solid. Like there is no blur effect applied to it.
I have been trying to address this but was not successful so far. Even tried exporting the SVG from Inkscape as a "Plain SVG", and also as a "Optimized SVG" but the results did not change.

Request you all to check out [Advertising is not permitted] as logo is an aspect in total branding. It has to be considered along with pure branding procedures. I'll suggest this quality of work.

I really like the variability of using one option in different colors. It seems to me that such use of the logo can lead to a large attraction of a new audience, although rebranding is always equal to the loss of a part of the audience. Also, it seems to me that the ability to update not only the logo but also the component of the site will help the product reach a new level, as they say here [advertising link removed]. You always have to try different ideas to implement new strategies and business models. For Open Source projects I tried to do some design. A few years ago, one project rejected a design based on its logo. I suppose the problem was who made it. I therefore think that part of the issue is with the people who select the design.

Without the waveform, perhaps without the headphones, this would be better.
