is it possible to alter the output file following a batch chain run? is there a command available for this in the chain builder?
like a rename command?

No there isn't. The Macro commands are specifically for Audacity. If you want to script operating system commands, you need to use a more comprehensive scripting language (such as Python).

Datman, I use A Better Finder Rename. It is awesome and you can rename (or amend) files using many parameters in the file... Plus, you can create droplets. Highly recommended!

Thanks for the info...just had a short look, looks like a tool for much more....there is a free trial version which i may download. Cheers
