I personally split a performance between editing and filtering/effects.
Nobody's interested in listening to you fluffing a word or using the wrong word, but it's way too common for people to viciously beat a performance with a stick between excessive processing, bad filtering and too many effects. You can't take effects out of a performance, so that's a good way to produce garbage for a client.
When I shot a split-location radio broadcast, the instructions were leave several seconds of room tone and don't do anything else. Submit the work completely clean, fluffs and all.
So it's up to your client.
