Sound Volume Increases as recording continues

For some reason my volume when recording begins almost indiscernable but then increases to very loud as the recording continues.

I'm on Windows 10 using a Logitech headset and making short audio clips.

I'm not increasing the volume of my voice or messing with any settings when this happens.

This doesn't only happen using Audacity, it does the same when recording a video using SnagIt video recorder.

Does anyone have an idea what might be causing this? Thank you.

Last time somebody complained about this, they were using a Logitech headset on a Windows 10 machine. Apparently, some versions of Logitech headset have automatic voice processing...and you can't stop it.

It doesn't increase forever. It goes from ambient sound to what it thinks is normal, natural volume. If you stay with it long enough, it eventually stops increasing. It's Auto Gain Control (AGC) or auto compression.

I stopped using my Logitech headset. I could never make it work right.
