Out of tempo when recording

Every track l record is "late" by a few miliseconds in the preset bpm. I try re-recording it several times but l can never seem to hit the tempo right, although playing the song live sounds tight right on spot. This problem is only when recording. It's very frustrating and l'd like to know if it's just me, whom for some reason cannot hit the right tempo or is there something regular with audacity

If you are doing overdub recording, it is essential that you set up "latency correction"
