I would like to combine excerpts from two to four music selections (MP3) files. I'd like to be able to carve out (approx.) the middle section of ea. song, fading in & fading out and then glue them together into one track/MP3 file.

How do I accomplish this and ...

Thanks!

See Fade and Crossfade

You may also want to refer to some of the editing tutorials or FAQs.

-------
A note about MP3 - As you may know, MP3 is lossy compression. (Data is thrown-away to make the file smaller.) When you open an MP3 for editing it gets decompressed. If you then re-export as MP3 you are going through another generation of lossy compression and some "damage" accumulates. You may not hear any quality loss but it's something you should be aware of.

If possible start, with a WAV file (or other lossless format) and compress to MP3 once as the last step. If your originals are MP3, try to minimize the number of compression cycles.
