Amplification in the last release of Audacity

Hello everyone :)

I a have a little feedback about Audacity 2.1.0
The amplification option, don't include 'remember action", like the previous version of Audacity, which mean, when I use Amplification for many time, in the previous release, there is a check box on this windows, about that, when you check it, you will get a amplification with a specific valude in db

is there a possibility to add this option to Amplification windows, in the last version ?

You can get a fuzzy cousin to what you want with Effect > Normalize (attached).

That one is goal oriented. "Always put the sound peaks at -3.5dB." and the setting is sticky.

You can't define the gain it uses, though.

I think you can get what you want with Effect > Equalization. Create an "equalizing curve" which is a straight line just above zero. It's rough to see, but there is a green straight line 6dB above 0dB in the picture. You may have to zoom your browser a little to see it.

That effect will add 6dB of volume to whatever you apply it to. The effect is sticky time after time and you can save it as a customized "curve" for use later.

The current Audacity release is 2.1.2 http://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows/. Always obtain Audacity there. Audacity supplied by us has never had a "remember this value" box in Amplify, but I moved this topic to Adding Features so your vote can be counted.

You can always use Effect > Repeat Last Effect or CTRL + R to repeat the same amplification level that was last used by Amplify, if Amplify was the last effect that you used.

Here's an "Amplify" plug-in effect that remembers its last used setting:
amplify.ny
Nyquist plug-in

It's a "Nyquist" plug-in, and to avoid confusion with the standard "Amplify" effect, this one is called "Amplify (Nyquist)..."

kozikowski - thankyou for the info it was News to me.
I attempted a reply with a more detailed suggestion to save time ( Esp on long recordings I make), but the Audacity Forum as erased it . . . demanding I login again . . . . yet it doesn't suggest Saving when this is about to happen.... so I'm really annoyed this thoughtful work is lost . . . never to be repeated.
It contained suggestions for Gain and Tone ( separate fly-out windows I guess, but which could be Conjoined as many corrections for Gain would also benefit from Tone change too.

Sometimes, using the browser's Back button can save a situation like that.

That sounds different to what you asked for in this topic, but you could start a new topic and describe it briefly.

Are you sure Chains wouldn't help?

I made a note of the request for Amplify to store the last used value, so I am archiving this.
