Are you asking to have a search box in Labels Editor? Type "cat" in the search box and you only see labels whose names start with "cat"?

A search function to filter the text labels would be super!
We often have more than 100 text label entries. That was also the reason why I have described the export function in such detail to use them in a database.
If already the text label editor window has a search-box, that would make things even easier and more efficient to find, select and play the Labels!

Great Idea, Gale!

We had discussed the matter again to current events because of the text labels.
Many of our workgroup would be able to better organize the text labels and edited using the features pleased.
Thus, I have summarized again. A picture is worth a thousand words, and I hope it is understood.

Here is the explanation:

A. by calling the Text Labels Editor Windows can mark individual text labels. Thus, they are as earmarked for selective export.

B. in a search line, the text labels to be searched. Parts or whole words are highlighted and underlined.

C. at the selected text labels appear a Speaker-play button. you can directly play the audio position.

D. the column will be export and definitely shows also the text track number to the text label in the export file too.

E. with the "EXPORT" button will do we suggested marking the corresponding text labels. by this, the Audacity project name is the txt-Filname.

I hope I have made myself clear knowledge despite my bad English and I hope that the proposals are of interest.

Best regards,
Karl

Thanks Karl. I think we would also allow you to select over the labels with the mouse to choose the labels to be exported, as well as marking labels to be exported in Labels Editor.

Please don't assume that we will be able to implement all or any of these features any time soon. ;) Generally, open source (volunteer) developers work on implementing what interests them personally (between the work of fixing bugs).

The Labels Editor could really use a major usability overhaul, in any case. That will I am sure happen at some time.
