Rapid Comparison Switching
I know this came up in the dim, dark past, but picture two slightly different tracks one above the other. I want to compare them by rapidly switching—one button—and not double SOLO-ing for example. I think it turned out there was an off-menu way to do that.

Re: Rapid Comparison Switching
So that would be no, then. Simple allows me to one-button switch between the single goal track and both. It also allows me to switch between the tracks: This SOLO button and That SOLO button and This SOLO button and That.
Two buttons.

Two buttons.
I've always found this awkward - I want an instant switch comparison, never managed to achieve it as I fumble around with the existing TCP buttons

Set the "solo focused track" shortcut to something convenient (eg "Numpad 5")waxcylinder wrote: I've always found this awkward - I want an instant switch comparison, never managed to achieve it as I fumble around with the existing TCP buttons
Set Preferences > Tracks => Solo button: Simple.
Set Preferences > Tracks => Move track focus cycles repeatedly through tracks.
Then it's just:
5
down cursor
5
down
5
....

But a useful tip nonetheless

Re: Rapid Comparison Switching
Yes I wanted "Simple" to be default too.steve wrote:Don't blame mewaxcylinder wrote: And that's "discoverable" ...![]()

- I've always said that I think the "simple" solo button behaviour should be the default.

Re: Rapid Comparison Switching
Would it be worth having an additional Solo button behaviour option?
With the A/B option selected:
1) (ideally) the Solo button label would change to "Solo A/B" (not sure if that is possible).
2) If the track that has its button pressed is not soloed, clicking the solo button solos that track (unmuting if necessary). Only the soloed track plays.
3) If the track that has its button pressed is already soloed, clicking the (currently depressed) solo button, un-solos that track and soloes all other tracks.
4) If a track is muted and soloed, mute takes precedence. The purpose of this is that it allows A/B comparison of two tracks when there are more than 2 tracks in the project.
Example - A/B compare tracks 3 and 4 of a 4 track project:
- None
- Simple (like the current "Simple") [default]
- Multi (like the current "Standard")
- A/B
- Select the "A/B" option for Solo button behaviour in Preferences > Tracks.
- Mute tracks 1 and 2 (so they will not play)
- Start playback, loop playback, quick-play or loop quick-play
- Repeatedly click the solo button on track 3 OR
- repeatedly click the solo button on track 4 OR
- move focus to track 3 or 4 and use the keyboard shortcut to toggle the solo button.
