Interesting. There's noticeable 'phasing' on the 7th generation, which is NOT what you get normally when you recompress an AAC or MP3. I have to admit though, I'm not familiar with the Ogg Vorbis algorithm, nor with the way Audacity applies it.

I think that will work well, but you should close projects before copying them manually or Audacity may complain about orphan block files (files for the Undo/Redo mechanism) when you reopen the copied project.

But you will still get the PCM data in the compressed project once you open it.

More or less - the mixed down AAC is just to play people without necessarily having Audacity open; I can use the Mac's Preview software to play them. The Ogg Vorbis files are there only to see the waveforms in Audacity (and perhaps make a slight adjustment to Tempo or how well they synchronise).
As for the PCM data, I simply delete it (and all other copied data if I haven't made any changes) when I close the 'copy' project.

If I was using Audacity to write my own songs or otherwise create original music I would of course use it differently, and be unbothered about large project files and more concerned about audio quality.
