I don't see that the Audacity developers can start adding support for arbitrary commercial products unless the product is compliant with an open standard. For example, I think it would be reasonable to support "Jack Transport" as that is an open standard, but unreasonable to support "Digi 03" which uses a system that is designed to not be fully functional with anything other than Avid software.

Many media editors support MIDI transport and/or SMPTE time code control, which would be nice for Audacity, but currently MIDI support is very rudimentary for Audacity and there is no support for SMPTE.

Presumably the third-party http://freecode.com/projects/shuttlepro provides that.

I'll find out - Terry Goyette has contacted [email protected] before because Audacity was crashing when combining SPACE with RIGHT or LEFT arrow in their Shuttle software, but apparently removing SPACE solved it.

Hi Everyone,

Gale posted a good link on our forum about using your Shuttle with Linux. Unfortunately we don't have the resources to port our software to Linux at this time, but in my personal opinion it seems like a good idea to add a MIDI component to the Shuttle devices. As of now they use our USB driver that is only supported by us on Windows and Mac OS.

There are other ways to control it via MIDI, using 3rd party software such as ControllerMate, but that won’t help Linux users. Anyone tried Antimicro?

If at some time in the future you do have the resources to port to Linux, "Jack Transport" (http://jackaudio.org/files/docs/html/tr ... esign.html) would be a fantastic feature for Linux users. Unfortunately Audacity does not currently support Jack Transport, but imho it should be part of (or linked to) this Audacity feature request. (Jack Transport is supported by many other Linux audio programs, in particular it is supported by Ardour which is by far the most popular DAW for Linux).

Sounds like a good idea to me too but unfortunately MIDI control is not supported by Audacity, so imho that too should be part of / linked to this Audacity feature request. MIDI transport control may provide (some) functionality of your device in Ardour, Rosegarden, and other Linux music applications (I know that Rosegarden supports MTC http://www.rosegardenmusic.com/doc/en/t ... ernal.html)
