This is an addendum to the locked topic in the Archived Feature Requests sub-board:
http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 56&t=69511
I have added a few refinements and extended the new Color Preferences panel:

At the bottom of the Colors section there are two new sub-sections: Timeline Font And Colors & Track Info Panel Colors; this last has its own sub-section: Mute And Solo Buttons Selected Color.

The Timeline buttons control the colors (selected and unselected) and the font used (size and family) in the timeline which stretches across the top of the project's wave tracks as well as the font used in the vertical ruler which is between the Track Info Panel and the wave track.

The controls in the Track Info Panel section control colors used to draw the background and the details of the Track Info Panel. Audacity uses the same color to fill in the Mute & Solo buttons to show they are depressed; I stayed with this convention although it would be very easy to break them out so that each could have its own color.

Yes, and more is available with the Save and Load features. You may save an unlimited number of configurations and thereafter load them as needed.

Maybe I should've been more explicit, it completely resets preferences; the only thing left is:
NewPrefsInitialized=1

Not only that, it also forces Audacity to immediately exit with the resulting possible loss of all your work; so there is this dire warning:
