Software Stereo Mix - for devices that lack it

Post by Nero1024 » Wed Jul 04, 2012 10:57 am

Is it possible to implement Stereo Mix via software for devices that can't record stereo mix and don't have a dedicated line-in jack? All of software for recording PC sounds are pay-ware and my laptop doesn't have a dedicated line-in jack and recording through the mic jack is terrible.

This is probably not going to happen for Audacity due to the diverse ways that operating systems control sound. On Linux this is already available. On some (mostly older) Windows systems this is available through "Stereo Mix". For other software solutions see here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Mixer ... _Issues#cp

recording through the mic jack is terrible.
Recording Stereo Line-In through the Mono Mic jack is terrible, yes. If you plug in a microphone, it probably works OK.

Money-based solutions are available for all those problems.
