When recording using 'Sound Activation' is there a way to make Audacity start a new track whenever it starts recording again? Or, is there another way to separate out tunes from a MySpace Playlist? I'm using the beta version. Sure would make it easier to export each tune to a file that way.
The ideal thing would be to capture the label info from the tune and automatically export to an mp3 file 'on the fly' so to speak. But, I don't know if the label data is downloaded. But, the user could cut-n-paste the playlist data to Audacity before start of recording. Just some thoughts.
Thanks

Re: Sound Activated recording
No. We'll add your vote that it should add a label, which would be more useful because you could then use File > Export Multiple to export a separate file for each song with the label marking the track split. In your case you don't need to use Sound Activated Recording. Use normal recording then Analyze > Silence Finder to label the silences between the songs.mikeinkaty wrote:When recording using 'Sound Activation' is there a way to make Audacity start a new track whenever it starts recording again?
Audacity doesn't capture metadata from recordings, or have any metadata lookup feature. If you import an audio file containing metadata, Audacity will display the tags in the metadata editor.mikeinkaty wrote:The ideal thing would be to capture the label info from the tune and automatically export to an mp3 file 'on the fly' so to speak. I know little about myspace but if you are just recording someone's playlist with stereo mix, I don't think you will ever get the metadata unless it's in the playlist file. Right-click over the playlist > save target as or save link as and open the playlist file in a text editor.
It is possible to capture metadata from some internet radio streams like iTunes and ShoutCast automatically using programs that can download the streams. But Audacity doesn't do that.
