[Tempo] getting n number of samples each second

Hi all,
I've been using the tempo function to compress audio tracks and it is brilliant. Thanks so much to the devs for the hard work.
My query is: Is there a way to gain the same tempo effect, but stipulate how many samples each second?

I hope this is clear and that someone can help.
