Audacity Windows 10 Crash

After I installed the new version of audacity on a computer my computer would crash and the following error logs would be sent to the computer event viewer. I searched forums about it, but no one gave a clear cut answer of how to solve it or what causes it to happen to audacity. We tested this on multiple computers and all of them get the same error log. All computers are using Windows 10.Going to post this on the reddit too for extra coverage. Also Audcaity doesn't even need to be open for this to happen.


A component version required by the application conflicts with another component version already active. Conflicting components are:. Component 1: C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\manifests\amd64_microsoft.windows.common-controls_6595b64144ccf1df_6.0.15063.483_none_26002d27e7c744a2.manifest. Component 2: C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\manifests\x86_microsoft.windows.common-controls_6595b64144ccf1df_6.0.15063.483_none_6dad63fefc436da8.manifest.

Which exact version of Audacity are you using?
What are you doing that triggers the crash?

Please note that SxS errors shown in the event viewer are not an indication of a crash. We are aware that for Audacity versions after 2.1.2 the event viewer shows an error.
