Long ago and far away (since I've uninstalled all the 1.x.x's), I think I recall the 'Pitch (EAC)' selection in the TCP showing a chromatic scale of some format. Now (2.1.2) it shows frequencies. It's a feature I seldom use, but I wanted to try it for chording a song and discovered the display format change. What's the intended use of this algorithm if not identifying notes?
I tried earlier versions and found that in 2.0.3, 2.1.0 and 2.1.1 the vertical scale and the plot are all blank.
2.1.2 has scale settings Linear, Logarithmic, Mel, Bark, ERB and Period. I understand Linear, Log and Period, but what are Mel, Bark and ERB?

Re: Pitch (EAC) display
No, I don't think that was ever the case in Audacity, though it may have been an intention that was never realised.DickN wrote:I think I recall the 'Pitch (EAC)' selection in the TCP showing a chromatic scale of some format.
Until very recently the EAC view did not work well at all. There has recently been a bug fix which has considerably improved the EAC display, though the vertical scale is still not particularly useful for identifying notes.
if you look really closely, they are not quite blank, but the information that should be visible is barely visible at all. That's the bug that was fixed recently.DickN wrote: I tried earlier versions and found that in 2.0.3, 2.1.0 and 2.1.1 the vertical scale and the plot are all blank.
Linear and logarithmic are likely to be the only scales that you need. the other scales are described on Wikipedia. They were added by the developer who fixed the above EAC bug.DickN wrote:2.1.2 has scale settings Linear, Logarithmic, Mel, Bark, ERB and Period.
