Version 2.1.1.0 doesn't "remember" equalization :¬(
Audacity 2.1.1.0 running on Windows Vista.
If you create an equalization curve, ( either by drawing it, or using the graphic-equalizer) , then apply it , when you go back to the equalizer that curve has gone , ( also true if you use a preset equalization curve ).
In previous versions of Audacity the last-used equalization settings were retained in that scenario , ( even if you didn't save them as a preset ).
Under 2.1.1.0 if I want to re-apply an equalization I have to re-draw the curve ,
or re-select the same preset from the equalizer menu.
The equalizer "remembering" the last-used settings was much more convenient.

It's a bug that was unfortunately not noticed until just after 2.1.1 was released.
It has been given "P1" (highest) priority so something must be done about it (hopefully a full fix) before the next release.

It's worth enduring that equalizer-bug to have a version of Audacity which has the much-awaited real-time effect-adjustment , ( and better noise-reduction algorithm ). Come to think on it , I could use a VST plugin equalizer in the meantime until the bug is fixed, ( the VST settings are "remembered" even after closing Audacity).

Even so, you could use 2.1.0 without the EQ bug. 2.1.0 has real-time preview and saved VST settings.Trebor wrote:It's worth enduring that equalizer-bug to have a version of Audacity which has the much-awaited real-time effect-adjustment , ( and better noise-reduction algorithm ). Download the free Voxengo* equalizer plugin from ... http://www.voxengo.com/product/marvelgeq/toddgilbert wrote:I have 2.1.3 how do I get real time preview?
and install the VST2 version for Windows.
NB: Audacity's built-in effect Bass&Treble is a simple equalizer with real-time preview, which may suffice.
[*other VST equalizer plugins are available ].
