I am doing a total download of the program here....hoping to clear up some audio issues I kept having. From the Audacity page when I click to download for my Windows XP OS I get taken to a differant page, with the name Foss Hub showing . A little uncomfortable seing this....is this the right page to be at?
OK, notice a new page info post above by Steve...where it does mention this Foss name...will go ahead and try that download.

This program uses Unicode and requires Windows NT/2000/XP
Program aborted.

Yes. Fosshub is our download partner that hosts the Audacity downloads.

Windows XP is a security risk now that Microsoft no longer properly support it with patches. Please see
Important information for Windows XP users.
If you feel you must use XP, Service Pack 3 is required for Audacity to run on XP 32-bit and Service Pack 2 for Audacity to run on XP 64-bit. Please see the links on
http://audacityteam.org/download/windows#sysreq.
Make sure you are downloading
http://www.fosshub.com/Audacity.html/au ... -2.1.0.exe. Download and save the installer, not run it without saving it. Where are you installing to?

If you install into Program Files and you are not logged in as administrator you must right-click the saved installer and choose to run it as administrator. Not doing so "should" not give you the error you mention, but just to cover bases.

If I understand what you're doing there, it might just be the source of your problem. You should be downloading to a "downloads" folder in your documents folder or something like it. Then unzip the installer (if it's a .zip) and run the installer to install the application into the "programs" folder.

Ok...thanks Cyrano...I just tried this and I still get the problem I mentioned earlier. The Widgets fatal error issue. As far as I know I did download the SP3 as was menbtioned as well. I'll keep trying here..thanks all for the suggestions. Sooner or later I'll be back in shape.

To be sure it's not an issue with the installer or permissions, can you try the ZIP instead
http://www.fosshub.com/Audacity.html/au ... -2.1.0.zip?
When you have downloaded the ZIP, use WinZip or right-click over the ZIP and choose "Extract All". Then just try double-clicking audacity.exe in the folder you extracted the ZIP into.
