Thanks, you're definitely more organised than me steve, but you probably knew that already. :)

One thing I'm learning is to name tracks in detail ASAP.
I've dabbled with most of your suggestions apart from a coherent saving and numbering system for projects. It all makes perfect sense at the time but a few days later.....??? lol

Is there a way to send a track directly to bottom or top - as in navigating a webpage - other than duplicating to bottom, dragging or track up/down?

I have one project that consists of three musical sections, I do have them saved as various individual projects and then when I complete a trial mix of say #2 I export it as wav and then load into #1 and slide it into position and overlap fade in/out the transition where they are linked by ambient sound. After the
first time of lining up... subsequent versions of the imported mix are easy to synch against the yellow start line of the mix above. Then I mute or delete the redundant mixes as I go.

I don't know what I'd do if projects #2 and #3 required more critical alignment with themselves and project #1

p.s I don't personally call them #1 #2 #3 I have weird and wonderful names that change as new titles occur to me. That's where the fun begins. Numbers and my brain have always had a ships passing in the night relationship. ;)

The next 2.0.6 release of Audacity when it comes out will have Move Track to Top and Move Track to Bottom in the Track Drop-Down Menu.

I gave the latest alpha version a whirl and yes it works well for that.

Do you have a changelog for the new features expected in 2.0.6?

Not yet, but it is due to be released very soon. There will be a changelog published when 2.0.6 is released. Look on the Download page (http://audacityteam.org/download/) and click on the "Release Notes" link below the Windows / Mac / Linux links.
