I have a conference call that I want to record. If I start the recording before I dial out, Skype fails as it tries to connect. If I start Skype and am connected and then start the recording, Audacity reports:
"Error while opening sound device. Please check the input device settings and the project sample rate."
If it is sample rate, how to I know the setting?
Present sample rate is 44100 HZ and Default Sample Format is 32-bit float.
Sample rate converter is Medium
Dither: None
Sample rate Converter: Best Quality (Slowest)
Dither: Shaped.
If it helps: Win 7 Home Premium, AMD A4-330, 4.00 gig, 64 bit,
Both work individually if the other is not active.
Is this a problem that can be solved or do I need a different set up?
Suggested alternate setups welcome.....

Re: Skype/Audacity compatibility
This is a common problem.
Skype needs to control the sound system in order to work, but that usually makes it unavailable for Audacity.
The best way to record Skype is to use software that is specifically designed for the job, such as "Skype Call Recorder" http://atdot.ch/scr/ (Free, open source software) or "Pamela" (commercial non-free).
