Downloading Audio From a website

Post by ksbtradio » Fri May 02, 2014 8:50 pm

Hello,
I just Googled "Downloading Audio from a website". The 5th result from the top was To download Audacity. I was researched audacity and could not find a portion of the program that allows me to download the audio from a website. Could you help me with that please? Does Audacity actually have the ability to actually grab the audio from a website and place it on the desktop?

Thank You,

Audacity can record audio that is playing on your computer. How to do that is described here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tu ... puter.html
Note that copyright restrictions may apply to audio on the Internet. Please check the terms and conditions of the website.

"Recording" and "Downloading" are not quite the same thing. Audacity "records" rather than "downloading". Some websites provide download links that allow direct downloading.

Yes I am well aware of the Copyright issues. As a matter of fact I try to report/enforce them when necessary. I am well acquainted with Audacity and have been for years. I was just surprised that when I Googled that term that Audacity was as high on the list as it was. Since it was rated that high, I questioned if it had that capability. So it doesn't Thank you for your response and input. I wish you the very best!

What point are you trying to make - or is it Google you are griping at because it strung together "audio" and "site" with its sometimes too clever algorithms?

As you can see from reading Steve's link, Audacity can record streaming audio if the sound card or audio API provides ability to do that.

On Windows Vista or later, the operating system provides an API (Windows WASAPI) that can record computer playback, and current Audacity can always record streaming audio on those systems irrespective of the sound card's features.

Audacity is not a download tool.

You didn't say what operating system you are using (see the pink panel at the top of this page). If you wanted a better inline answer you should have given us that information.
