I've successfully created and exported a surround sound FLAC file.
Prior to the export, I get the option to assign tracks to channels. The only problem is that the channels just have numbers - not names.
E.g.
With a bit of trial and error, I was able to get everything in the right order.
It would be really useful if the channels were labeled as Front Left, Centre, Front Right, Surround Left, Surround Right, LFE etc.
In the meantime - is there a handy guide to which channel is which?

There are different "standard" channel mappings depending on the file format.
To complicate the matter further, not all hardware / software adhere to the "standards".

Re: Surround / Multitrack Export Channel Names
Thanks Steve for this answer. Actually this is what brought me to this forum, lol. I was browsing about multichannel and test streams.
I am new with Audacity and trying to make my own music and also remix some songs into dubstep. However, I have some problems with decoding channels into AAc stream sometimes. What do you guys suggest?
