Recording

When I record a tape onto Audacity program I experience crackling during the recording. I have tested the tape player and it plays back fine, bur when I press the record button it starts a crackling noise. I would be grateful if some one could advise me what to do.

Thank you
Ken

This is nothing to do with feedback and reviews. Please take a look at the pink panel at the top of this page.

What version of Windows or Mac?

Is it a USB tape converter or a standalone tape deck? Make and model number?

If it is a standalone, connect it to the blue line-in, not the pink mic port. If you only have a mic port, you will need to buy a USB sound card that has a line in, for example: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Recom ... Interfaces .
