Does make sense for the AUP file to hold metadata?

Would it make sense to have the project file retain or create the metadata for a new self recording or extract the data from the original mp3 file? Possibly does with a Audacity module.

Audacity projects do hold metadata. What is your point?

Is the album cover considered part of the metadata using Adacity?
