A little review (April 25th, 2013)

1) The things I really love:
- very handy to split/move/arrange elements from wav file (especially useful when mixing vocals/turntable cuts/effects);
- spectral view + sound repear = perfect & easy way to kick out clicks and pops in the sound;
- amazing option to record a new track with overdub (playing other tracks while recording);
- wide ranges of amazing effects/sound processes/plugins;

2) Thing that I don't like:
- When saving a project, Audacity copies the used elements (from the original wav files) in the project folder. Changing some of the original wav files doesn't effect the project after that;
- Saved project (in .aup format) remembers the folder path and when the entire project is zipped it won't work on a different machine/folder until the new path is set manually in the .aup file (open/edit as xml);
- In the edit menu there is no mix/crossfade/replace option;
- Silence in the beginning of tracks is ignored/skipped while exporting;

3) Things that make me mad:
- Mouse control (it's more than ridiculous and absolutely different than most of the WAV editors) - a configuration option is must.

Thanks for posting the review.

Picking up on a few points:

Please see here (in the manual) for how to safely move projects: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/au ... .html#move
The important step that you are missing is resolving "dependencies" to make the project self-contained.

That is a long standing feature request. There has been quite a lot of experimental work in this area but not yet ready for release. This is an area that we can expect to find new features in the future. I've added your vote for this feature.

Another long standing feature request that I hope will be resolved in future versions. I've added your vote.

I quite understand. I've used quite a few other programs and every one of them seems to have its own way of mouse control. It used to make me mad each time I switched from Audition to Audacity - now it makes me mad each time I switch from, Audacity to Audition. It has also made me mad when switching between Audition and ProTools or SoundForge. It's just a question of familiarity and I don't see any way round it.

See here for more discussion of why this is as it is:

I added your vote for configurable mouse bindings.
