Mute / Solo behavior changed

Hi there,

In older Audacity versions you could import say 2 tracks, the same track but different mixes.
So I would start listening to the top track, muting the bottom track. Then if you solo the bottom track obviously it mutes the top track.
However when unsolo the bottom track, it would remember that you previously muted it, and so would only play the top again.

What is happening now is that unsolo bottom track and then both tracks play as it forgot that it was muted. When comparing mixes its horrible to have to keep fiddling with things, would like it if the behavior could be put back to how it was, or at least have an option to toggle it in the menu please.

Win 10 1803, Audacity 2.3.1

Thanks

Audacity has two "modes" available for the behaviour of solo / mute buttons: "Simple" and "Multi-track".

The default in recent versions of Audacity is "Simple".
In this mode, if you have two tracks, let's call them "A" and "B": Click "solo" on "A" to play only track A. Press "solo" on "B" to play only track "B".

For the old default behavior, change the default to "Multi-track" in "Edit menu > Preferences > Tracks Behaviors".
