No Sound
I am new to this, have just got Audacity 2.1.3 in the mail with a cassette converter and although I can hear the tape well on the converter machine and on another cassette player, when I try to record it to convert it to an mp3 file it is like there is hardly any noise, the blue lines are flat lining, when I play it back I can hear nothing. Is it something I am doing? I have the sound on the microphone and on the playback turned right up. Have I got a dud?
Re: No Sound
That's a very old version. The current version is 2.3.0 and is available via the Audacity website: https://www.audacityteam.org/download/
I assume that it is a "USB Tape To Mp3 Converter"?
Check the settings in the device toolbar and ensure that the USB device is selected. Note that the USB device should be connected to the computer before launching Audacity.

Re: No Sound
BUT 2.3.0 does not run on XP (and we no longer support Audacity on XP) - and that is what this user apparently has.

Re: No Sound
If you really are using Windows XP, you should seriously consider upgrading. If you don't want to go to Windows 10, you could consider using a lightweight version of Linux.
