Audacity 2.2.2 and Windows 10. Assigned track labels for my vinyl transfer...found moving the vertical line around to mark the track very tricky...placing the line for the first time and pressing play worked but moving the line resulted in audio then following my cursor to play forward and backward.

Somehow after adding my track markers my screen ended up being divided into a separate horizontal section for each track label. The top two vertical lines contained the squiggly lines representing the music and were contained in a yellow border box. The vertical lines below these looked blank save for a separate track label in each one.

I exported multiple and selected FLAC File, Level 7, 24-bit, and "Numbering before Label/Track Name" as the how-to video suggested. Under "Split Files based on" only one of two options appeared functional..."Labels" as that was the only appearing in black type. The "Labels" button not selectable and in gray type. I did not check the "Include Audio before First Label" box that accompanied the "Labels" button even though it was selectable. When I exported, I was not prompted to give an "OK" for each individual track as the how-to video said I would. Upon playback after exporting, indeed the album was saved as one 40-something minute track.

This bit I can help with - you got yourself into Scrubbing mode - see: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/scr ... eking.html

You can always get out of that by pressing the Stop button in the Transport toolbar.

But if you really don't need/want scrubbing - do yourself a favour and hide the Scrub Ruler, the gray bar below the Timeline. Right-click on it and uncheck the bottom item that says "Scrub Ruler" - or you can disable it by right-clicking in the Timely and choosing "Disable Scrub Ruler". You can always re-enable later from the Timeline if you ever need it.

But with it hidden, you will no longer accidentally click in it and send yourself into scrubbing.

Thanks WC. I there a way to correct the audio file I have already recorded by editing in some way to insert the track marker labels correctly? I still have it open in Audacity as it existed when I exported it originally. Or, should I close the open file and open the saved music file from my music folder and edit that? (I imagine either way probably works.)

Forget that last question about how to correct the audio track with proper markers. I disabled the scrub track per your instructions and then read the Audacity manual about how to properly label tracks and export. I x-ed out the vertical lines below the wave file that had what appeared to be track labels in them, leaving me with the bi-level wave file with all the track labels on the same vertical line together below the wave file. Thanks!
