1. Feature request: I'd like to Zoom In and Zoom Out using the mouse scroll wheel.
2. On earlier versions, Check Dependencies... was on the File menu. Where did it go?

Help > Diagnostiscs > Check Dependencies
In the front page of the Manual there is a link near the top for "What's new ..."
Which for 2.2.2 takes you to:

Click somewhere.
Control-Mouse Wheel on Windows.
Command-Mouse Wheel on Macs.

Which I would have found if the Manual was searchable. (The index is awfully sparse.)
Thanks!

I didn't search.
In this particular case: From a forum window > On-Line Manual
https://manual.audacityteam.org/
Reference (on the left) > Index (scroll down) > Zoom. Scroll down until I hit it.
My favorite problem is the Add-On and Home-Made Filters. Those are abysmally hard to find, and
I know they're there.

Tell me about it

It's a long story, is searchable ...
And yes I know the Index is sparse (it was worse a while back, I found a bit of time to improve for that last release 2.2.2)
If I can't remember where a command is in the menu tree, I go to
Edit > Preferences and select the
Keyboard tab
Then I use the Search box - in replying to this post of yours I just typed in "dep" and it showed me
