volume of micro doesn't work !

Hi,

I install Audacity 2.1.2 on Ubuntu but the volume of micro doesn’t work:impossible to move its cursor
Why ?

Thanks

That’s normal on Linux, because Audacity does not have software control of the recording input.

The sound system in modern Linux Desktop systems is extremely flexible, and is controlled by PulseAudio. Typically pavucontrol (PulseAudio Volume Control), or a modified version of it, is installed on the system and accessed via a speaker icon in a “panel” or “task bar”. This provides much more control over the recording source than could be achieved by a single slider.

Pavucontrol provides recording / playback settings, including both the device selection and levels, per application, in addition to configuration for multiple input / output devices (including network devices). So long as Audacity runs OK with PulseAudio on your machine, just set the recording and playback devices in the device toolbar to “default”, then use pavucontrol to manage sources, sinks and levels.
