Most numbers won't show up [SOLVED]

Help for Audacity on GNU/Linux.

  • the exact three-section version number of Audacity from Help menu > About Audacity,
  • whether you installed your distribution's release, PPA version, or compiled Audacity from source code.

Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x are obsolete and no longer supported. If you still have those versions, please upgrade (see https://www.audacityteam.org/download/).
The old forums for those versions are now closed, but you can still read the archives of the 1.2.x and 1.3.x forums.

Most numbers won't show up [SOLVED]

I'm using Audacity 2.1.2 on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. In some places, the numbers show up like normal, like in some parts of effect and generate windows. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling with apt, but it hasn't worked.

What is the system language on your computer?
Have you set a specific language in Audacity preferences or are you using the default?

I'm using US English on my computer and the default on Audacity. I tried changing it to English to see if anything changed, but nothing did.

Where did 2.1.2 come from? How did you install it? I don't see anything on the Ubuntu bug tracker https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/?fiel ... t=audacity about this, so perhaps it is specific to your computer.

Have you installed open source graphics drivers? These can cause issues.

I found a solution. I recently installed a color emoji font, and if I disable it, the numbers show up like normal. I still don't know why it was causing problems, though.
