Audacity Crashes When Every Time Start Monitoring?

Its a clean install. Was going through the online tutorial step by step, and when we go the part where it said to Start Monitoring in the Recording Meter, the program just crashes; every single time. Im completely clueless. I just want something to make simple voice recordings for screencasts.

That's a very old version. I'd suggest that you check for updates.

In the device toolbar, try selecting "HDA ATI SB: ALC892 Analog (hw:0,0))" as both the recording and playback device. You may need to drag the device toolbar wider so that you can see the "hw:0,0" as you have several options with very similar names.
