Please state:
Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x are obsolete and no longer supported. If you still have those versions, please upgrade (see https://www.audacityteam.org/download/).

- which version of Linux you are using,
- the exact three-section version number of Audacity from Help menu > About Audacity,
- whether you installed your distribution's release, PPA version, or compiled Audacity from source code.

Linux Problem installing steinberg mi4
Hello I installed linux mint 16 petra I connected via usb my sound card steinberg mi4.jackaudio I do not detect midi in and midi out of the card audio.come can I do?

Audacity does not support MIDI in or MIDI out. Neither recording or playback of MIDI are supported.

If you need MIDI for other programs, you may be out of luck with the Steinberg mi4. All that I have found from searching Google are reports that MIDI on the mi4 does not work on Linux. I don't think that Linux is to blame for this - apparently it doesn't work on Windows either until you install special drivers from Steinberg (http://www.steinberg.net/en/support/uns ... 4_mi4.html). Steinberg do not provide drivers for Linux for this device.
