Input Level Slider Tool Tip is strange text

The Tool Tip in the Input Level slider (and the Output Level slider too) is strange text: “50 Russian Phone Herrsh” on my system now.
I have re-installed, but it remains.

I’m running Audacity 2.2.1, from the Mint official repositories.
I’m on Linux Mint 19.1 Tessa, on an older ASUS Intel Core-i7.

I’m reporting this for information only; it may be fixed, or a problem for Mint or Ubuntu or someone else.
It just seemed so odd I thought you would want to know.
I have attached a screenshot.

Wow, that’s weird.
My first thought is that your computer may have a virus, which would be highly unusual for a Linux system. Nevertheless I’d recommend that you run a good, up to date anti-virus scan, preferably booting to a “Live CD” or Linux on a USB drive.

Do you always install from official repositories? If there’s anything that you installed from elsewhere, then there’s a possibility of it containing malware.

Are you the only user of that computer?

Yes, I run clamav. I don’t think there are any non-official repos in my list, but this install is a few years old, and I’ll check. But this looks a lot like an overwritten pointer.

Thanks for the advice.
