Unable to launch audacity on kubuntu

I’m using kubuntu 20.10, and in the last few days I installed the latest stable version of audacity via apt.
But after the installation, I found that audacity cannot be started. after clicking the icon, no GUI appears, but the system monitor shows that audacity is already running.
If I use konsole to start audacity, I end up with a long list of error messages.

Is there any way to solve this problem?

What is the output immediately before the “pango” errors?

Unfortunately I don’t think that tells us anything useful.

The Pango error is related to font rendering, and I notice that there are Chinese character in your terminal dump. How are the language settings set up on your computer?

That surprises me. I’ve never seen locale setting in that file. Are you sure that’s correct?

I’m not quite sure, but the Chinese support in the kubuntu installation is imperfect. Then I adjusted the system settings according to an online post.
I may need to reinstall kubuntu.

I’ve just tested the Ubuntu repository version of Audacity 2.4.2 on Xubuntu 20.10 (my test machine is too slow to run Kubuntu, and I can’t read Chinese, so that’s the closest I can do). It’s not perfect (the sbsms library is missing, so no “high quality time stretch”), but it does launch and run.
