I Use the Focusrite USB as recording and playback device , i performed the latency test

and adjusted latency settings with the folowing parameters

buffer 100ms
Latency compensation -167 ms

I am tring to record some bass/guitar tracks in a 44mhz 32bit float project.

The problem arise when i try to record long riffs ( >16 seconds)

I assume that you mean "44.1 kHz"?

Are the tracks gradually drifting out of sync, or are they out of sync by a consistent amount throughout the track?
How much out time are we looking at? A couple of milliseconds? Several seconds?

What settings are you using in the Device Toolbar? (https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/device_toolbar.html)

Sorry i forgot to answer

"Are the tracks gradually drifting out of sync, or are they out of sync by a consistent amount throughout the track?

The tracks are gradually drifting out of sync if a record small pieces the are in time , but longer riffs, solo or part start in time but end out of time (it's a matter of milliseconds not seconds but the track i compromized)

What settings are you using in the "Device Toolbar"? (https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/device_toolbar.html)

Have you tried recording at 48000 Hz instead of 44100? If not, try that (you will need to rerun the latency compensation setup).

Note that any changes to the recording setup can change the amount of latency, for example, switching between mono and stereo, or changing the sample rate.

Hi all my toolbar settings are in the previous post, i tried recording at 48000 hz ( rerun the latency compensation setup also) but no effect
why i should try to record at 48000 ?

thanks

Because most USB audio chips have a "native" sample rate of 48 kHz.

Other than the latency drift, is the sound quality OK, or do you experience crackles and pops?
