Which version of Linux?
Which version of Audacity? (look in "Help > About Audacity")
What is your experience level on Linux (beginner / intermediate / advanced)?

Sorry for the belated reply.

As above, the Linux version is 4.19.0-4.

Audacity, like all packages installed and updated via `yay`, is kept regularly up-to-date.

At the moment I have 2.3.0-1 installed:

Code: Select all

[[email protected] ~]$ yay audacity
5 aur/audacity-wxgtk2 2.2.2-3 (+3 0.45%)
    Record and edit audio files
4 aur/darkaudacity-git 2.1.3.r1237.gec4838600-1 (+5 0.02%)
    A program that lets you manipulate digital audio waveforms
3 aur/audacity-git 2.2.1.r31.gdb4528069-1 (+10 0.03%)
    A program that lets you manipulate digital audio waveforms
2 aur/audacity-extras 2.2.1-1 (+10 0.38%)
    All nyquist plugins for audacity
1 community/audacity 2.3.0-1 (5.4 MiB 24.5 MiB) [pro-audio] (Installed)
    A program that lets you manipulate digital audio waveforms
==> Packages to install (eg: 1 2 3, 1-3 or ^4)
==>
I would say I am somewhere between beginner and intermediate with Linux, using it since around 2016/17 (first Ubuntu, then Manjaro since April 30 2018).

As above, the Linux version is 4.19.0-4.

Audacity version as of now is 2.3.0.

I would say that my proficiency with Linux is between beginner and intermediate.

Audacity 2.3.0 is for Windows and MacOS only.
The current release for Linux is 2.2.2.
The next release for Linux will be 2.3.1 and is scheduled for January.

The ZIP manual for 2.3.0 was packaged slightly differently from previous version, which is why the instructions do not work. The ZIP manual for 2.2.2 is packaged correctly for the installation instructions.
