Before I purchase a microphone to USB (A2D converter) preamp, do I need a special driver for Linux?
I previously used a Roland Duo-Capture that did not need a special driver.
It depends on what the device is. If it is “class compliant USB”, then it should work fine with Linux without installing any special drivers. For anything else, check the manufacturer’s website and / or do an internet search to find information about compatibility.
