Hi -
I've encountered the same problem as described in the Linux Issues Wiki: Freezing due to PulseAudio. I tried setting ULSE_LATENCY_MSEC to various values - no change.
The freezing issue is so frequent, it almost makes the software unusable...
Any ideas for me? I'd be grateful for any advice.
My setup - Linux Mint 18.3, Audcaticy 2.1.2 from the repository.
Thanks

Try the other workaround:
Alternatively choose the (hw: 0,<some number>) playback and recording devices (assuming you are using a motherboard device). This will access the hardware directly, bypassing the pulse layer. You may need to use ALSAmixer to select the exact input or output being referenced. There should be little or no freezing, but applications can't share the sound device, so Audacity won't be able to access the device if another application is using it.
