Unknown "Envelope" Mode Entered

macOS 10.13.4
Audacity 2.2.2

While editing a label, I seemed to have inadvertently entered an unknown or undocumented mode associated with the track envelope window. See attached screen shot.

As shown, on the left side of the track envelope window there is a white vertical scale of some sort adjacent to the -1.0 - 1.0 amplitude scale.

I can’t seem to clear this mode or function. I can adjust the envelope in this mode (see the menu that allows me to undo “envelop”). I can’t find any reference in the user guide about this function. Creating new projects doesn’t clear this mode, and upgrading Audacity software didn’t clear it either.

Can any one tell me what mode this is and how to get out of it?

Thanks.

Envelope Mode is the center-top tool. The normal selector is the “I-Beam.”

You’ve selected the “multi-tool” (see: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/multi_tool.html)
To get back to the normal “Selection tool” (http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/selection_tool.html), click the “I” cursor button.

Yes, thanks. I figured that out about 10 minutes after I posted the issue. :unamused:
