Simulate car stereo sound?

Help for Audacity 2.x.x on Mac OS X.

ImageThis forum is for Audacity 2.x.x on Mac OS X 10.4 and later.
Please state which version of macOS you are using,
and the exact three-section version number of Audacity from "Audacity menu > About Audacity".

Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x are obsolete and no longer supported. If you still have those versions, please upgrade at https://www.audacityteam.org/download/.
The old forums for those versions are now closed, but you can still read the archives of the 1.2.x and 1.3.x forums.

I want to simulate sitting in a car listening to music playing on the car stereo? How do I do that in Audacity?

Not in the way you think.

Make any change to the sound through Effect > Equalization and build the scene into the script.

"Here we are in the car.."

There is no standard "car stereo sound button."

The other way is make a very minor change to the sound (any change) and add background traffic noises.

A cousin to that is make driving around noises. Pretend it's a manual transmisson. Those have an acoustic signature.
