Rattling behind voice in voice audio

Hey guys

I get this rattle behind the voice sometimes when using audacity. It seems to always start about 2-3 mins into a recording. I have tried different mics. It doesn’t happen every recording but is annoying when it does! I cannot use noise reduction as the rattle seems to be generated only behind the voice audio.

I have a clip here so you can see what I mean.

What can I do to get rid of this?

If you zoom-in on the waveform you can see there are glitches …

They could be “skipping”, see …

Thank you. Is there anything I can do to salvage this audio?

You might want to look at this FAQ:

The problem of “clicky” recordings on Mac sometimes requires the counter-intuitive measure of reducing the “Buffer length” in Devices Preferences.

As to rescuing the recording, there is no simple method. All I can suggest is zooming in, finding each glitch, selecting a small region around it and doing Effect > Repair.

You can use repair individually on each of the glitches, but that will take an eternity.
There is a DeClicker plugin for Audacity which does the all the repairs in one go, (it’s slow but much quicker than by-hand).

Those glitches might (and I say “might”) be picked up and fixedby Brian Davies; Click Repair app- you can try it for free for 14 days. See this sticky thread: Click/pop removal - ClickRepair software

Update: I just did a quick test with ClickRepair on your sample - and it seemed to work quite well.
